i7 3930k + 3-way SLI 680's - Page 4

Nice build, couple questions/comments though.

Why did you get an H80, that thing isnt gonna have enough horse power to keep the big boy cool past like, 4.5 ish.

Also, whats with the huge power supply, the seasonic 1200 would have been more than enough.

But yeah, nice build, I love my 3930k, handled my 4x6970's great and does great with my 2x7970's.

haha, you takling to an old school Quake 3 player bro - I kno - I got ya. And the answer is yes. But, I will be running 3 projectors on my wall in my man cave with this beast. All of which are 60hz though.. Actually 59hz.. lol.. anywayas.. I'm getting older :/ I don't do much FPS anymore... So... TBH - it's not really a necessity for me. I actually still til this day prefer 120hz CRT's over LED's.

Power supplies are more efficient the closer they are to max load.

You'll only reach around half of the power draw that thing supports.

I went overkill with my 1200w honestly, and I have 2 of the most power hungry cards ever made.

Higher numbers are not always necessarily better.

The FT02 is too small for 3 way GTX 680, that case can barely fit CFX or SLI any more than that you are going to be blocking off the middle AP181 fan completely as the PCI-X power cables will be right over it and there will be poor airflow as well as your 3rd GPU (if it fits) would come close to the drive bays. I went from FT02>Cosmos 2 because of this. Basically, your gpus are going to bake in that case.

Switch the case to a Cosmos II or something that is more water cooling friendly (Corsair 800D?) you can afford it and you'll be happy you did because the GPU's will starve for air if you can't give them good circulation. Your temps will be too high and overclocking will be limited in 3 WAY SLI on the FT02.

Am I jelly? I'm jelly you have $3700, not of the computer. Im into ATC trikes and dirtbikes. Computers is my side hobby. BUT nonetheless, nasty build.

Closed loop water cooling is blek.

and btw...

I have a refurb psu, there is nothing wrong with that. Only the 90 day warranty. Most my parts are refurb. its just really dumb to go refurb, when you are dropping $3700 seemed odd, thats all. no trollo....
