Not for 4mb of cache. Cache is probaly the most expensive part in a modern chip.

Though I have to say, if things seriously upgrade so much, one thing is for sure, adobe was ahead of the game.

Inside all of adobe's video editing software for pc/mac (pc for sure), you can select which processor you want your "rendering" to run on.

So say I have a quad core processor. Simple, I can literally pre load adobe premiere pro or after effects on each of the 4 processor's. And Literally render a pre created project, (say 5mins), 4 different projects all together, 1 on each of the core's. And bam, render them all in the same time, without the pc really lifting a finger. Impressive! At least adobe kept up with multi core cpu's!

No part of the CPU costs any more than the other. Its a common misconception. CPUs are made using a process called lithography, in which the silicon is etched using light - literally a photocopy of a master CPU design. The only thing that costs money is the raw materials (silicon, metals, etching chemicals, etc.) and the initial R&D + equipment investment.

The reason they do not add more cache is because the more you add, the larger the die becomes, and the fewer you can produce from a silicon wafer. Also, adding more cache increases the total number of transistors, and the more transistors you have, the lower your yeilds will be. So in a way, adding cache will increase costs, but it is no more expensive than adding to any other part of the CPU.
