The point is, this will most likely be out WAY before AMD even thinks about 45nm. K8L isnt a threat to Intel. Re-vamping an ancient technology might let them catch up to intel, but then what do they do to stay ahead? Re-vamp the re-vamped old tech? They need to sit down and remake an entire architechture just as Intel has.
Pentium 3 - Pentium M - Core - Core 2 All revamping, not an entirely new architecture, and whats wrong with that? Core2 performs very well for being a beefed up Pentium 3.
AMD's K10 which is planned for 2h' 08 is a completely new architecture on the other hand. nm's dont necessarily win the cpu war.
And I was commenting on all the people are are so afraid for AMD's survival.. or whatever.
