I use one myself. I hope nokia's offering can make them more popular and increase the dev's interested in making apps for it.

WP7 and Metro need to die, so we can get on to good things.

Out of the three software makers Microsoft has the most expertise in the matter. Google's Android is just a layer on top of: Apple design, Lunux OS and Sun's Java. There is very little, if anything that Google brought to the game here. Basically a copycat product.
No wonder they spending 10s of billions shopping for patents .. .

iPhone - well, here we have some real expertise in design. In developing new devices and new designs are ahead of the crowd, IMO, they will stay such; while everyone else will continue copying from them. Their iOS is a stripped down Mac OS, which is somewhere deep is based on bsd branch of unixes.

Microsoft/Nokia - they can win potentially. If it wasn't for their consistent habit of missing the train... . Both were innovators once...
However, Nokia is capable of producing most reliable phones and MS will make the best OS as far as technology is concerned. Granted, Windows 8 won't be one, but they will make it right. Their competitors i don't think will be able to match that.

Wow really?

Widgets, Notification pull down, Launcher, integrated navigation, custom Home screens, voice integration, etc.

I had a notification pull down, and could use voice commands long before the iPhone 4S.

Yeah, Google brought nothing to the Table. rolleyes.gif

Win8 is fantastic as far as technological advance, it just has a terrible UI.

I am due for an upgrade in October, and a WP7 is on my very short list (well, either a 4S or a WP7). I have always loved Nokia phones.

I like my 3gs. iOS is simple to navigate and use. JB it makes it even better.

Funny thing is 14 months ago I did not and would not own an Apple device (still won't get one of their computers) but I now have 2 iPhones ($40 total cost for both) a 64 gig iPod Touch 3rd gen (got it for $80) and just got a iPad 2 a few weeks ago for $360. I like them, my wife loves it and kids (9 and 6) find it easy to use. Aside from iTunse sucking big time, I have no real complaints about them.

I played with my nieces WP7 the other day (not sure which model) and it was nice. Not completely sold on it though, really need to try it for a week or so.
When my upgrade comes, I will probably get a WP7. If I don't like it, I have 30 days to exchange it.

I really want a windows phone. Unfortunately Verizon seems to be completely ignoring the OS for the time being, so until Verizon gets something good i'll keep using my Incredible and holding onto my upgrade. I really hope the Lumia sells well so other carriers will start to take notice.
