I had a notification pull down, and could use voice commands long before the iPhone 4S.

Well, sure I didn't mean they didn't write code. But writing widgets is hardly an innovation, it's implementing already existing idea. Multiple workspaces is X11 feature, which is different only slightly from android's (different in implementation though). Notification pulldown is a new thing, but it's an incremental improvement.
Voice commands - this feature works quite poorly for me; could be very useful though. I still think it's half-solved problem. First guy who solves it really well is going to reap the benefits. My point here is that there are other hard problems, solved by others which Google relied on in making android. They used the solutions (linux kernel, java, ui design ideas, etc), but didn't introduce outstanding innovations.
Their real innovations, were what made them Google, - search (x10), google maps, gmail.
