AsRock Extreme 3 Gen 3 Help

cpu is i5 2500k, overclock to 4.2ghz, vcore 1.285v not stable until 1.300v, pll level 1, c1,c3,c6 disable, all others are auto.

has problem with usb3.0 in linux system, once plug in flash drive, system dead.
but the kernel actually support usb 3.0 (my other ga-z68x-ud3h-b3 works well for usb 3.0 in linux).

is vcore 1.3 little bit too high? do u guys think i should go to request exchange? little bit lazy about 40 miles drive.

thanks

so you're wanting to know if we think you should exchange the board ? if your motivation is to get a board that clocks better you should know that overclock potential is 90% cpu and 10% mobo at best. that board is a stout little clocker. 1.3v is a touch high for 4.2ghz, but certainly not unheard of. Ive seen much worse. that being said I'm sure with some more tweaking you could get that same clock with less voltage if you worked at it a bit. as to your linux question, I have absolutely no idea. wink.gif

check these out.

I would also stay away from llc level 1 level 2 seemed to give my 2600k much more stable clocks but 1.3 seems high I was helping a buddy yesterday and we had his 2500k booting into windows at 5.0 ghz at 1.44 ghz full load also go offset not manuel vcore

This, I would recommend you to either use level 2/3.

Are you runinng with offset or manual vCore?

Did you choose your cpu voltage manually like 1.285v

or

Did you choose an offset mode which is -0.x or +0.x as cpu voltage.

You can check that in your BIOS.
