Possible to run PhysX on AMD system w/o Nvidia gpu?

Hello. I am brand new here and fairly new to the this aspect of pc use. Have been a casual pc user for years, but just recently decided that consoles are holding gaming back, and built a gaming rig. My question, as the topic states, is it possible to run PhysX on my particular rig without installing a third card? Everything that I can find tends to point toward no, but I have a friend that insists that it is possible. I know that I could run a third card on my mobo @x16/x8/x8. Just really don't want to have to buy a third card. I would like to be able to implement the PhysX options in games, though. So whatever it takes.

Also, am I correct in assuming that doing this will allow me to access the PhysX options in games? Any info or links to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

no but you can buy a nvidia card and put it in your pc it doesn't have to be anything super powerful a gts 450 would do

Well, normally you would pick up an ATi card first and then want PhysX so it would be before but it does not matter when you install which set of drivers.

As this is just a patch to get PhysX running with an ATi card installed.

So if you had a 9800GT first, and then through in an HD5870 Later, you could set the HD5870 as your primary Video Adapter, and then use the PhysX patch to enable PhysX to run on your 9800GT.

From what I understood from this is you still need some sort of Nvidia gpu, HOWEVER, you CAN pair it with an ATI card. Or am I wrong?

So in the long run, i think you will have to fill that 3rd slot on your mobo but the good news it can be something as low as a 9500gt which can be had for cheap on ebay.

So, I'm kinda getting confused here guys. Let me see if I'm catching all this right. I can use PhysX on my system, but I have to get a third Nvidia card? It doesn't really say on this link, but the way I am reading it, I'm getting that I don't need the 3rd card. Just the drivers, PhysX SS, and the patch. That really doesn't seem right, but that's how I am reading the link.
