cpu bottleneck

Thread Starter
hi, I recently bought a Saphire hd 6870 only to find that my cpu (core2duo e4600 2.4Ghz) is bottlenecking my gpu. i chipped in everything for this graphics card and hence iam a little tight on budget. So plz suggest a good but budget cpu+mobo that wont bottleneck my card.

how about i3 (2100/2120)+ h61 mobo ???
or
athlon II x2 265+ am3 mobo????

thank you....

This is a little bit past your budget, but should be good

BTW: This should give plenty enough power to your graphics card. Sandybridge, even at 2.8GHz will be plenty of power, and is a much better alternative VS AMD.

Also, you could buy an even cheaper motherboard, since you're not going to overclock much with that CPU (locked multiplier), but this mobo will at least be nice to have if you upgrade your CPU later on.

Only way to be sure is to check each mobo manufacturers CPU support list thumb.gif

Edit: I think the ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 has IVY bridge support, else it would not have PCI-E 3.0 support. Only IVY bridge will enable the mobo to utilize PCI-E 3.0 anyway thumb.gif
