Its scary. That mass of copper costs a fortune. Screw ups are not an option. I already had 2-3 "oops" on this block. I just have to keep banging out prototypes until there are no screw-ups.

I imagine the milling process will need tweaked slightly once you switch to copper as well. Move the mill too fast and it "pushes" the material around, too slow and can heat up the base too much. I'd find a small block of copper to do some test cutting with before starting the actual production block.

I milled it with copper specs. The feeds and speeds were set for copper. 18 ipm, with somewhere around 0.02-0.035 depth of cut, 5K RPM.

I could have gone more agressive with the aluminum.

I was wondering, did you perhaps consider putting some ridges around the VRM area to get that heat out a little faster from that area of the PCB? Although the VRM's didn't really get that hot the the 580, I don't think.

Well first there's not holes for the water to enter, but I guess this is the mock up for the real thing.

Second, that arm that covers up the SLI bridge, while no impeding you to mount the bridge; it may prove difficult to trouble shoot your computer whilst installed if ever you need to take it out... no?

The holes still are the last part to be drilled and tapped. The arm doesn't block the SLI connector, It just needs to be slid in from the side. Its just a cosmetic thing instead of just having the waterblock end at the 90° drop, it continues for the length of the card.
