Absurd. I'm going to shoot for 4.6 tomorrow, that'll be a 50% increase from stock, not too shabby. Don't really want to go over 50C though, so I may have to wait for more fans to get a push/pull setup going before I can get to 5.0. Jeez, I just started overclocking, and I'm already talking about pushing this thing as far as it will go. It really is addictive, isn't it?

I recommend you stop at 4.5 GHz, given that you do folding. Reason being past 4.5 GHz power consumption goes up exponentially (unless you are cool with extra power bill).

Hmm. Good to know, thanks. Folding temps have gone up during the day to about 46°C, so I'll probably leave it here at 4.4GHz, at least for a while.

Next steps are better fans, cable sleeving, and some UV lighting. I've been looking into the Scythe Gentle Typhoons.

Okay, I officially have a problem.

I just ordered 3 Scythe Gentle Typhoons, a NZXT Sentry 2 fan controller, some CCRT lights, and a Corsair M90 mouse. Hopefully they'll be here by the end of the week.

I have to stop spending money now.

Scythe Gentle Typhoons showed up, and boy do they live up to their reputation. I replaced my chassis fans (front and bottom intake, rear exhaust) with the GTs and I'm seeing like an 5-8°C difference on my GPUs and CPU while folding. Plus, I was honestly surprised by the sound of my hard drives working. I I don't think I had ever heard them over the roar of the Cooler Master fans. And I got rid of the glowy red and blue LED fans as well, they were driving me nuts. These GT's are working out well.biggrin.gif

Fan controller and new mouse should be here Saturday, and cold cathodes next week sometime. I've decided to put a window in as well, I'm looking for someone to etch it for me. If anyone does that, or knows someone who does, let me know.

Well, one of the Gentle Typhoons failed after about 3 hours of use. wth.gif I got an RMA request into the seller, so that should be handled shortly. In the meantime, my cold cathodes showed up! I wasn't expecting them so soon.

I need to get the window made, and manage my freakin cables.

Nice man, I kept yelling "wire management bro!" until I read your last post xD

On another note, two things:

1.When you painted your case, did you just like paint it? or did you do sanding and all that stuff.

2.How are those Scythe Gentle Typhoons? o.o worth the price?

I think the best thing you can (should) do now is to buy a SSD SATA3 6G/s harddisk. Your HDD cannot match any of the new SATA3 SSDs. wink.gif

I have a OCZ vertex3. It loads the windows 7 in about 20 seconds with all my startup applications including anti-virus. tongue.gif
