I have a 60mm fan from a P4 Northwood HSF (S478, now in possesion of CyberD ) that is about 25CFM give or take. Loud, but cant hear it over my other fans. I can't see to find a way to mount it to my NB. It's passive, and it isn't fairing well to temps. Least, I don't think so. Doesn't have a sensor.

Also, I want to stick a 80mm to cool my RAM. Its low CFM too @ 32CFM, so sticking it in the 5.25 bay and having it blow over the RAM gives next to no extra airflow. Can't think of ways to do either.

Does your case have a mobo tray? If so take a piece of plexi-glass a little bit wider than your fan, bend one end in hot water till you get it to where you can hang it over the edge of the tray, do the same on the other end, give yourself enough room to clear your ram,cut a fan hole in it, mount your fan and your good to go.You might want to add a little weather stip to the edges to cut down on vibration...The northbridge I have seen people mount them with 30 or 40 lb fishing line, just find a place to tie the line off top and bottom, looks pretty cool from a distance, looks like it is floating in the air...I'd use at least a 60 or 80mm fan on the ram...

No removable mobo tray.

Good idea though... Guess I make sure my next case has it. Can be my first mod.

I had an idea right before I fell asleep last night, but now I can't think of it.

Well you might still be able to do it over the edge of your mobo, just pad it well where it touches your board, it's not going to be heavy any way shouldn't hurt it...

Quick question.

I don't have a sensor on it, like I said, but I want to apply AS5. But if I do, I won't know if I did too much/too little.

Is that the right way to do it?

Yeah Pook that's a pretty good tutorial...Just spread it thin and light like you would on a cpu...You could use Ceraminique instead of AS5, it would work just about as well and you wouldn't have to worry about it so much..

Good news. (So far)

Applied it, cleaned my cables out some, and put a 60mm fan over the NB. And looks good.

Currently @ 300HTT no problems. Usually I can get in, take a screenie, save it, then it crashes. Deleted some files, recovered them from the recycle bin, took a screenie, saved it, etc, no problems. Gunna run Prime95 in a bit.

Details on how I did it and such in a minute.

*dances*
