Is Prime95 safe?

Is it safe to run with stock cooling non-OCed?

Please show us your rig. And yes, stock cooling should be fine for all processors with adequate cooling.

In any case, if you do need one, the CM Hyper 212+ is an awesome budget air cooler

My system:
i5-2500k
PCPC Silencer MK 950W
Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H
Mushkin 120GB SSD
Radeon 7950
stock fan for now (will add Hyper 212 EVO when I get my games)

Currently with just this forums open, my CPU temp is 38C.
Probably safe.

If Prime damages a stock system, it was either assembled incorrectly, or built with defective parts.

So Prime95 can damage a system?
As he said, it MIGHT damage a system only if it was assembled incorrectly (which cause failure in stability and proper function) also might damage a CPU if its stock or aftermarket cooler is installed incorrectly.

I would advise getting a program like Real Temp to monitor your CPU/GPU temps while you are testing them out. other than that you should be fine at stock. i would like to add that if your CPU temp reaches 105 C it would probably shut its self down to protect further harm to itself. usually a CPU temp around 95 is the max for a person to deal with i would say.

Any heavy load benchmark or program can possibly damage hardware if that hardware is unstable/faulty to begin with.

You would be a first if you damaged a stock non over clocked chip by stress testing.

You can even run your CPU with no heat sink what so ever, you can short out most terminals on a PSU, have a MB covered in water (let it dry) and they will all work after they have time to reset and cool down.

What I am trying to say is that all parts of a system have many built in safety's. Now you can not trust them 100% but trust them 99%
