Thermal tape/pads??

Thread Starter
I just swapped a scythe musashi into my boys 9800gt and applied thermal paste to everything, but the problem is some of the heatsinks for the ramsinks keep falling off. I gave the paste a few mins to settle before i put the vid card on the mobo but a few still fall out. I figure thermal tape would be best soo my question is..

What to go with for the memory, thermal tape or pads? And what are the best ones? Let me know

IF you want permanent, get some of that Arctic Silver adhesive. It will no longer fall off, lol.

what sort of compound exactly are you using to adhere the heatsinks?

Thermal tape has sticky side(s) to them, thermal pads do not.

if you used the arctic silver adhesive (the stuff that comes in two tubes as shown by the damric, or two little packets if you got it along with an Arctic Cooling product), that stuff needs a few hours to dry. Or at least one of the varieties does. Actually the one I use says 5 hours, and it's hard to imagine anything falling off once it sets.

I've used 3M thermal tape which holds fairly well but not as good as an epoxy style compound.

I used the Arctic Silver adhesive on some mini sinks for mosfets, and it wasn't permanent at all. The sinks just snapped off with a little pinch and pull.

But you have to pick off whatever is leftover. It's kinda like plastic.
