That just means the games he tested weren't bottlenecked by the CPU, but by the GPU.

The threads you get from hyperthreading run while the real threads are waiting on a cache miss or something similar, so they're very slow. It's not obvious whether it's good for games or not, and only testing on individual games can tell, because it depends greatly on the way the game was written.

Anyone who flat out says hyperthreading is not good for games is talking out of their arse.
