OC FX-8120 BIOS settings for a stable 4500 MHz - Page 16

Your welcome! thumb.gif I hit 8.17 in cinebench using only a Multiplier OC to 5.0GHz (check sig). Computerparts hit 7.33 @ 4.5GHz. Something must be wrong. Try doing a run with only your CPU overclocked and see what you get.

Holy Crap, Man!!! Well done!!!!

Was that 1.6V I saw for your vcore and 67*C for your NB temp?

Were you using your bucket cooling or your standard water block?

Any suggestion for me or anything I should watch out for?

I finally hit 7 last night: 18x256 for 4608 MHz. Voltage was the same at 1.488V. I'm pretty much maxed out at all other voltages for NB, CPU NB and RAM.

I did get to 4800+ but wasn't that stable, I could use windows to surf the web but that's all... I'm not sure if my chip can handle anything higher...until I get the balls to increase my Vcore!

Yeah, NB gets very hot on this mobo at those clock speeds. I was able to hit 5.2 Ghz with that same voltage but with minimal load. Im using an XSPC Raystorm Block, an $8 water pump from Harbor Freight, a tranny radiator, and a 5 gallon bucket as a reservoir. Its very un-conventional, but it works really well, and is wallet friendly.

Im not a fan of FSB overclocking. Its been my experience that using the FSB and Mult to overclock nets negligible results, all while causing stability issues. Once I set all my Ram timings and frequencies, I headed straight to the multiplier and core voltage. Since you've invested quite a bit of time on getting your clock speed where it is, save your settings in the bios, and shoot for a simple mult overclock. Are you well into the 7's? 7.??

Hey,

Sounds like you have a very economic water system, lol! That's great...

I'v been been pulling out my hair with this Cinebench score...I can't seem to break 7 unless I push my fsb way up!

Oh yes, I think my score was 7.14 or something like that... really not the hi 7's.

The only way I can see to get a higher score with just the multiplier is, of course....voltage, voltage, voltage! I'm already fairly high in voltage in my opinion for what I have for cooling! It's my NB I'm worried about. CPU's seem ok.

Cheers,

hello,
this is a good thread,i havent read though all of it yet,iam a in middle of something, but my setting are 4ghz at 1.284v,i get this by 1.29v in bios and load line at ultra high.4.4ghz with 1.39v,i use 1.406v in bios anf load line ultra high.
i use the 4ghz,because i can run silent with that setting.
i also would also like to hit above 4.4ghz,but it seem to higher voltage increase for that clock.

Im on a XSPC RS420.

Malo could you get 5Gz with just multiplier or do you need to incress bust speed too.
