So,are you stable under load?

Also, have you increased any other settings?

I'm 1.52 Vcore in the BIOS at 4.7 GHz but my NB heats up very quickly... I'm just running 4.5 GHz so I don't burn through my components!

I think there is an error in the new version of cpuz:

See the issue below:

you can see by the spelling "i have been drinking again",that's a good plan, ill try that one,i got 4200 for that voltage, might be stable at that too.

I had a revelation on my 8120 and CHV motherboard this morning. Everything I have read is to use the default 2600 MHz for the HT link speed or close to it as they suggest. Actually, they say that for the 8150's defaults so I just assumed the same for the 8120. Today I started a new overclock attempt with my new bios update. I was struggling to get to 4.3 GHz no matter the addition of vcore I would add. Something happened though. I did something different after failed attempts. I clicked the HT link speed down a multiplier to 2400 MHz. Instant stability! I decided to take it one step further and dropped my vcore down to 1.35v. I kept my stability. I tried 4.4 GHz at the same voltage and got one error on the AIDA64 stability test after 2 hours. I clicked HT link down another multiplier to 2200 MHz. Stable. And eventually made 4.5 Ghz stable and cool while overclocking ram and cpu/nb. No issues. All stable at 1.39 vcore load. Sounds too easy for me but makes me wonder what advantage I lose from lowering HT link with what I gain from CPU clock and cpu/nb clock and memory performance,

I don't have the pics yet as I wanted to make sure I got my full 12 hour AIDA64 stability test first. I will start it before I head to bed and add the pics of my results as soon as I can. Until then these are my final stable bios settings. Will add additional settings if requested:

CPU ratio: 22.5x
CPU Bus/PEG Freq: 200
PCIE Freq: 100
Memory Freq: 1873 MHz @ 9-10-9-24 CR1

CPU/NB Freq: 2609
HT Link Speed: 2007

CPU vcore load: 1.39375
CPU/NB voltage: 1.422

CPU LLC: Extreme
CPU/NB LLC: High
CPU Voltage Over-Current Protection: 140%
CPU/NB Voltage Over-Current Protection: 130%
VRM Over Temp Protection: Enabled
CPU Voltage Freq: Auto
CPU PWM mode: Extreme

Max CPU core temp: 52* Snorkle.gif

With this max temp I am confident I have a lot more room on my CPU clock that I can go with but right now I like 4.5 GHz as a nice round number. Can anyone tell me if the lower HT link is detrimental to my system performance? The benchmarks I have now has never been better. Any further advice is appreciated. Pics to follow.

Hello. Please can anyone tell me why my fx8120 is throttling from +4Ghz to 1.8Ghz while in full load? the performance it's greatly decreased: Cinebench 11.5 results: 4.98 to 6.38.
I have OCC with the following setting in bios:

CPU: FX 8120 @ 4.290Mhz 260Mhz X 16.5
Vcore 1.3875v nb freq multip: X9.0 2340mhz cpu/nb voltage: 1.2500V HT bus speed : Auto

I Disabled : AMD C1E support, Virtualization, Cool&Quiet, amd application power management, AMD Turbo core technology, CPU active Core control, LLC enabled ( no option normal, extreme, etc, just on , off or auto) and Thermal Throttle.
I Have MB : AsRock 970 Extreme 3 P1.20 and bios : AsRock UEFI Setup Utility
8gb (2 X 4gb ) A-Data Gaming series 2000G v2.0 1.65V
AMD Hd 7950 OCC

2nd OCC via multiplicator 200 X20.0 Vcore 1.2875v-1.3500v, HT auto (2400mhz), cpu/nb voltage 1.1250 - 1.2500v

It is stable in Prime95, IBT, y-cruncher . max 45 degree celsius. I don't understand why is it throttling at 45 degree, when this cpu it's supposed to be safe under 60degree??

Please help me, i did something wrong? TNX.

Today i found why my PC in throttling, because of the CPUTIN (cpuid hardware monitor) when it reaches 65-66 degree automate throttle at 1.4GHz. Some say the cause is or a defective sensor or extreme heat on VRM's or Mosfets. What can I do? I'll try to mount a 120mm Fan to blow air to them, but i'm not confident that will work :| Any other advices? pls someone.

Hi everybody. New to Overclock and to overclocking.
Just finished my first build a week ago and now I'm trying to find out what it can do, but without any success whatsoever.
I read the thread in detail, but I´m such a noob that most of the stuff doesn't mean anything to me mad.gif

Here are my system´s specs:
FX8120
ASUS M5A97 EVO (R 1.0)
16GB Kinston HyperX 1600 CL9 (it defaults to 1333 in BIOS)
GTX 550 Ti
Deppcool Gammax 400
2x1TB Seagate Barracuda 64MB 7200 (RAID 0)

I tried all the settings suggested in the starting pages of the thread, but no avail confusedsmiley.png
It only makes sense since I cannot understand most of it. So far It´s been basically entering numbers in BIOS without a clue about what I'm doing.

I don't play any hardcore games or anything like that (mostly Company of Heroes), I just do some heavy-duty photo editing and graphic design, and would like to get the most out of my rig.

I tried the Multi 22.5, FSB 200, CPU Volt 1.425-145 suggested here, system boots and seems to be fine, but the second I start prime95 (blend) system freezes and i have to hard-reboot.

Everything in BIOS is set to either Auto or Standard, except for the things that need to be disabled (cool'n'quiet, APM, Turbo, EPU, CI6 and C1E. Am I missing anything).

Some guys I work with are running similar rigs at 4.4Mhz and 1866 mme (OC) with what seems to be amazing gains in speed for our line of work.. But I´d rather go back to my first garage built Mac than ask them for advice:jealoussm

Here are my system readings at 3100, evrything set to default, idle:

Any advice as to where to start to improve performance as much as possible for the kind of work I do would more than welcome thumb.gif

Hi I'm new to overclocking and need some help I'm also tryin to get up to 4.5ghz but something came up when I was stress testing on prime95 in a little window saying "warning SB voltage 0.000 V" what does that mean? and also what am I watchin out for on the Hwmonitor?

here is what I'm using:
Crosshair V formula
AMD FX 8120
16gb RAM vengeance corsair
Corsair H80 liquid cooler at max
Cooler master tower

Setup:

and also is there anything that I need to enable/disable?
