My mother is a professor and she's looking to get a desktop with a large monitor, so I figured selling a 6950 will be easy enough, and I can give the rest to her. But I don't think she'll like the huge case (she's been looking at Mac Minis fondly) and I'm trying to convince her to buy mine. I figure stuffing this all in a small case and since it doesn't need to be OC'd or have a GPU, then I might as well silence the CPU with an H50.
Minimalism is far more important than water cooling.
Why would I be taking the PSU "out anyway"? If I go to Micro, won't I be using it? And if I go Mini, even if they usually come with their own PSU, I'll have to sell the 650.
And HTPC's confuse me. They're nice and slick, whereas these Lian-Li Micro cases I've been looking at, while top quality, are a bit more boxy. Not sure which way to go there.

Fair enough, in that case I'd seriously consider the ITX route. They look so good and if your mother appreciates the mac mini's aesthetic appeal she'll probably like something like Silverstone's Sugo line.

I meant take it out as in take it out of the case, sorry wasn't clear. But I can see why it might be hassle to sell it, although with your trader rating and the fact that it's a nice PSU it'll probably just walk out of your hands if you did want to sell it. (If you were in the UK, I'd have taken it tongue.gif )

Sorry by HTPC cases I meant if you like the media centre cases they might be worth a look. They tend to look more like something you'd find under your TV, as the pictures you posted look like.

I reckon you'd be suited for ITX, but if you decide otherwise let me know and I'll throw some case suggestions your way wink.gif

Whats wrong with the stock cooler if you won't OC. They are pretty quiet.

Thanks. And yeah, I guess I'll have to suck it up and just sell the motherboard and PSU.

So, do H50s work well with ITX? Or is that only Micro, and now I'm limited to expensive, low profile heatsinks like mentioned earlier ($75 is a lot for air cooling).

You mean the intel stock? Honestly, if they weren't such a pain to install, I might go with it. But I feel like I'm nearly breaking my board, and all that effort for an awful cooler anyway.
