Well his cpu and mobo are astill good for some time to come, 4.0 quads will be strong for a few more yr, and his ram is on point. so 7970 would do you well. what is you 3dmark11 score? then look at mine, we are kinda close on rigs.
you'd bust out a lil higher socre with the 680 and around the same with a 7970.
What is your resolution? If you are using ACD 20" then thats 1680x1050. I highly doubt GTX470 OCed is holding you back. Thats CPU bound territory.

Eh.. GTX 680 is good. But having garbage monitor and such GPU is pointless.. are you playing with vsync? if so, i'd say waste of money.

Get 120hz monitor, trust me. i bought it few weeks ago it was day and night differents. One of best upgrades ever.

Na, a single card wont bottle neck a quad or higher, now sli/cf is a diffrent story.

Its the res that would be holding it back, those card are designed to run 1080 or higher, thats where they shine!

So 680 and a 1080 or 1200 lcd, and you'll be good for aa long while

Great! I'm convinced! Will use part of the ol' tax refund to grab the card! smile.gif

As for the OC on the 470, I'll have to get back to you. I don't remember offhand.

Thats true but most people here on OCN play games like BF3 and not many play Wow. For example if you play GTA IV or SC2 CPU is more important. He should also check GPU usage with MSI AB to see if he is getting 99%. If not then the CPU is holding him back for those 2 games.
