need advice and opinion

Thread Starter
So my time using TWC has come to a close. I just got off the phone with them and they claim that my connection is no longer suitable for what I need and that I have to upgrade my package in order to stop getting disconnected. They claim that my 10/1 connection isn't cutting it for my network which consists of my desktop and 3 laptops which are on occasionally (they haven't been on at all and I'm still getting drops in my connection all the time. I've gone through a new modem, and two different routers of different brands. They won't up my bandwidth to compensate for the degrade over time on their network. I find that kind of stupid. So now I am looking for a new provider for cable/tv. The only option that I know of is At&t, can anybody give insight and comments on how their service is?

Sounds like your current ISP doesn't want to admit they are having some issues on their end. A 10/1 connection should be fine for you if all the computers are just browsing the web. I wouldn't be surprised if the cables running to your house are becoming corrupt and that's what's killing your bandwidth.

I have 25/5 from Comcast and I get upwards of 40+ during down hours, and I have absolutely no drops in service. Everyone says, "Oh, Comcast has bandwidth caps and catches you when you torrent stuff!" Well, I can tell you they don't enforce the bandwidth cap for me (I used 722GB last month) and I use torrents and Newsgroups and I'm perfectly fine. I get 25/5 in my bundle for the same price as people paying for 15/5, it's because I'm a new customer as of 4 months ago.

AT&T will give you a good deal at first, but once the new customer deals and everything wear off, you'll end up paying the same as comcast and other cable providers charge for slower speeds.
