I feel the need for a game to get my teeth into.

Which of the games in the title would give the best single player experience?

Thanks for opinions.

Its between Black Ops and BF3. Both actually have a similar storyline, and if you've played World at War you'll probably enjoy Black Ops a lot more. The main factor between the two would be which type of gameplay you enjoy more. CoD has a distinctive arcade-type feel where you play as a spec-ops badass. BF3 is more 'authentic' feeling as far as being a grunt on the battlefield. Graphics-wise BF3 wins by a wide margin.

So if realism, graphics and variety are important to you BF3 is the better choice.

If you want a compelling story, great voice acting and simple, fun gunplay, Black Ops is it.

Both are short and obviously meant to be multiplayer in the long run.

MW3 doesn't compare to either.

Honestly, I'm a huge fan of BF3's story. It's interesting, somewhat movie like, and doesn't really have any twists and character changes which can confuse you (like COD does).

what the hell are you guys smoking? lol

the BF3 and MW3 story lines are pretty much identical. both of them you play as/against russians and americans and the whole objective is to stop the bad guy from destroying the US. lol

honestly ive played every COD campaign and BF3 campaign. from a strictly single player standpoint CoD series wins hands down. black ops has a good story line for sure, MW3 is just and extension of MW2 which is also an extension of MW1, its gets repetitive and its pretty much the same story with some differenent scenarios but still enjoyable.

MW3 additionally has spec ops missions and survival mode which is fun, BF3 also has a type of survival mode but its terrible to be honest. Black Ops has Zombies which IMO is the best addition of secondary game modes to the call of duty series, its quite addicting.

my vote goes to MW3, as it has the most useable single player content and you wont get bored as quickly with it, BO is a close second if you can get into zombies.

Playing all three they're all pretty similar. Sometimes I forget which story goes with which game. BF3 had the most memorable jet stage but was short, mw3 was slightly longer I dont remember what happened in between, but provides a pretty good conclusion to the mw storyline. Black ops was pretty forgettable. I wouldnt play any of these games for a single player experience really. But mw3 would be my pick.

COD 3 is a re-texture... If your game crashes on PC you get a message saying there was a problem with "COD 2", I'd say Battlefield 3. I expect a COD fan to try and rebut... I have black-ops ummm I enjoyed the campaign mode.

Thanks for more replies :) I understand your point about MP, I just am not very good at it and get clobbered by either organized and experienced teams or idiots. I even sucked at Halo3 MP!!! So now the p[rices are coming down a bit, it's worth it for the campaign.

I played COD 1, 2, 3, Rainbow Six Vegas II at least 3 times, Far Cry 2 for over 200 hours, Borderlands 200+, Fallout and NV, Ghost Recon AW twice, Metro 3033 etc etc.

My favourite pure shooter is COD Modern Warfare 4. Absolute classic. I thought they lost their way with MW2, leaving out the challenge mission was a mistake. I tried WAW but tbh found it boring and overrated. I guess I could try BF3 and always give MP another go. I can get it for 90 bucks on Origin (Australia lol), about 35 for Origin versions as downloads, or less than 20 for the Russian language versions with English language pack (not VPN). Does anyone know if Origin has any problems with people doing this? I don't want to get booted or anything.

Still undecided, so I'll think about it some more. Enjoying the feedback - these games normally get discussed in terms of their multiplayer mostly, so its refreshing to hear about the single player component from those who've played, rather than from review sites or Youtube.

The Rainbow six series are fun but havent been quite the same since I last played rogue spear. Get BF3 for MP itll be quite the experience, if you havent played bf2 you wont have anything to nerdrage about so its all good. Just when you join try and get into a squad you can stick with not a squad or rambos, and you should do fine.
