6950 went bye bye>? - Page 5

the 6950 uses around a MAX of 250W so if its not getting enough power from the 12v rails it might of fried from that during the bf3 session, especially with overclock bios and such

box says 500 watts or great psu with two 75 watts 6 pin pci express power connectors recommended. 650 watts for crossfie.

That's better. Amperage rating and whether your PSU is a quality unit or not weigh more than simple total wattage rating. Since it is AcBel, I'd say it can deliver rated power.

In any case, RMA your card.

wait so you're running crossfire, and if i looked up the right board you only have 2 pcie slots

edit: nevermind, i saw crossfire along with your board specs on page 1 and got a little confused with the linked post

no im not running crossfire.. im planning to though.. but first lets resolve this gpu nt booting.... im going to put it into the second x16 slot now.. sounds like i need a new psu.. so how many amps do i need on the 12 volt raiL?
also listen for that noise and track down where its coming from, whether it be psu or video card. you could aso try to pull out your card immediatly after shut down to see if the noise occurs in its absence

It tells you on the box on the gpu box minimum requirements. Then I'd say go about 5a over that to be safe. Instead just get the hx650w from corsair. Good luck thumb.gif

you also have to take into account that he bought it overclocked and unlocked shaders from the bios, which would raise the power draw, possibly too much for the powersupply, although id imagine 650W would still be enough, maybe the amperage wasnt enough

True true. But I still recommend the hx650. It will be enough to even power a gtx680. But yea I agree with you theory.
you would think 650 would be enough, what brand is it? Model number?

I'd look for a new PSU, because you said u want to cf in the future, well that psu won't do it. Might as well pick one too. i sau areound 850 or so, beasuse you don't know how much headroom you'll need in the future, And RMA you card. So while the card is out installl a new PSU.
