6950 went bye bye>? - Page 8

In my experience the PSU will pop before the Video Card will. Does your PSU have 2 PCI-E express connectors or just 1.

If you had to use an adapter that that's the problem.

18 A multiple 12V rails I think should be fine.

If you take that card out and you hear clicking, could be a wire clacking against a fan blade.

If you smell like Smokey or electrical smell, your PSU is probably gonna give out.

The reason why your card Failed is probably due to the fact that it was Preowned, Flashed and a Powercolor.

The previous owner probably had artifacts or other problems after flashing it and just tried to get rid of it. From what I understand, it's not good to flash Power color 6950 anyway.

Again, I don't believe that you PSU was the culprit. Check your board for Buldging capacitors.

his build stilll posts and boots fine so it sounds like psu should be good, i linked his psu earlier and it is made for CF and should have a minimum of 2 6pins possibly more, so no adapters that i know of were used. we covered the noise, it was a wire hitting a fan apparently. he doesnt smell smoke.

I fixed my issue by switching to HDMI then back to DVI. I noticed that each time the PC would freeze then have no display and then the monitor would lose input at Windows startup after a hard reset.

First thing i would do is Either What the guy above said, or take out your video card, delete all you're drivers and roll back, update or use the driver from the cd and see if that fixes it.
