But, do you plan on having your case/PC set up so that you can easily see the board? If not then put the ugly beast in, haha!

The armor acts as a cooling duct that covers the entire board. It channels air to main components and keeps the board in general about 5C cooler then boards without the armor. If your a extreme overclocker, or want to make sure your board stays cool, its not a bad choice. Especially if you live in warmer places of the planet.

I'm still tossed up between these 2. What are the main differences of the boards? I really don't need many features.. I just want to make sure my I7 3770k is going to get the max possible overclock. I definitely prefer the look of the Sabertooth.
The P8Z77V Deluxe is a far superior board for the overclocker. The Sabertooth comes with the traditional 8+2 phase VRM, the P8Z77V Deluxe comes with a 16+2 phase VRM.

Interesting that I missed that... the Deluxe it is.

Buy now, and have it sit on my shelf until I get my I7 3770k.. or wait and risk it being sold out. rolleyes.gif

Neither does their best motherboard on this lineup:

Glad I bought a mechanical keyboard that supports USB and PS/2. I knew it was a matter of time before companies starting removing the PS/2 port.

It's OOS, but yes wink.gif I may just order the board now and hope it comes in in the next two weeks or so tongue.gif I'd rather not drive an hour to microcenter to take advantage of a combo deal when Ivy drops wink.gif

Bought mine some hours ago.. And unfortunately, I don't have many other options because of my.. Location [even though Ivy is being made a couple of miles away from my house]..

I'm waiting for OC marks with that board. A 16 phase CPU VRM for a 1155 socket is just insane. I wouldn't doubt several pushing the 5.5Ghz barrier stable, and 5.0Ghz 24/7 stable. Just need to wait and see how well these processors clock, and how much power they can handle.

Thread Starter
For me it's keeping the new build fairly close to all black as possible. The Deluxe may be a better board for OCing and have other Opts, but Sabertooth isn't too bad for OCing either and I have no need for the other toys. Less features a price I'm willing to pay to have a classy look. I was never too much for multi colored light shows in my rig. Give me all black with good LED White to make her shine.

And there is someone on this forum already who tested out the fans/cooling here. He stated that he barely heard them and only heard them when he looked for them.

It is taste that might be the biggest factor here besides a $45 dif on Newegg. Some hate it for the "cheap" armor look. Others, including me, think it's a thing of beauty. Sabertooth is for me.

Would getting the ASUS P8Z77-V DELUXE over this Sabertooth actually help with overclocking on air or water cooling? Or would you have to be a DICE/LN2 user to see a difference?

What other features does the Deluxe have over this?
