Are these temperatures normal for 3930k? - Page 3

looks like a combination of a high ambient, poor airflow case, with a 6 core cpu with 12 threads

sounds like you mentioned earlier you don't have a 120mm case exhaust on the back, I would try one.

You'r showing idle temps? Show the temps on full load please. Idle temps say nothing (stock vs OC etc etc)

His idle temps are higher then normal, and if he's reaching 70C under light loads/games he's sure going to have issues with 100% load.
On my 3930k, under light load/games I'm getting 57~59C at the exact same clock but with a lot less voltage, that's why I told him to try and lower that. But that still doesn't explain much of his idle temp, since it's throttling the voltage down, it should be lower.
But that might be bad case ventilation, he already has a 200mm front fan as intake, as another guy suggested he might want to use the back slot for a 120mm exhaust, still positive pressure but forcing the air to exit through the back and that might get him to drop a few degrees.

ok so I just changed the voltage and overclocked it to 4.6ghz
and my idle temps seems to sit around 55c..... seems kinda dangerous Q_Q

I'll proceed with the Prime95 testing but I'm pretty sure that my rig will overheat
and crash at this rate frown.gif

Just be ready to stop the workers if the temps sky rocket.
And yes, idle temps with a fixed voltage like that are high, you can try OC by offset to make the voltage scale down while on idle, but those temps are indicating some other problem, either with the thermal grease or the headspreader not making full contact.

That's like my 2500k.

Idles high 37-40c but will only load to 60c (not very high for H50 with 1 fan).
With my ambient being 78-80F

I have a I7 3820 cooled by corsair h100, my idle core temps are 33 - 38c while on prime95 full load am getting 56 - 60c max, am running it in stock speed 3800ghz turbo, I am wondering the same thing if my temps are high as well, u might run mine in comparison and see since both processors are the same size while mine is lacking two cores, I wonder how much would a single core generate heat.

I have the same set up Headon, Stock temps for me are 28 Degrees @ idle and 50 max under load in prime 95, one thing to make sure is that the fans on your radiator are facing up. (stickers on the fan facing the radiator) and exhausting up and out the top.

My Rig:

You only have quad core 3820 OP has a six core 3930K.
