I need a good PC build around an i5-2500K or the new Ivy Bridge i5. Could you good people here at OC.net create a nice build
that'll cost roughly 1200$ give or take?

Are you going to be doing any gaming? If not, you can get away with much less than $1200.

Then for the GPU you could get the 680 for 499$ but its out of stock or the 7970 that is 529$

All this for more or less 1250$

You could with less but i dont know your resolution and what kind of games do you play, but with this build you can play everything on ultra at 1080p +60fps and you could also play on 1600/1440p

That comes to $1201.90. You can pick whatever case you like, but that's the kind of build I would stick to. You might even think about getting the i5-2550k instead. Its the name processor but the gpu is disabled and it has a slightly higher clock. Its supposed to be more easily overclocked than the regular i5-2500k.
