Help me stable my big 4.0!

Thread Starter
I am really trying my hardest to get the big 4.0 stable but after trying my best with the knownledge I have I still cant get a stable system.

I currently am at 235 FSB, with stock voltage for the CPU and ram; 1:1 ratio @ 400Mhz with 3 4 3 10 timings.

I might be completley wrong in the way I am approching things but with my fidling I went from 30 seconds on OCCT to 5 minutes and then my system reboots.
My temps are 40C load and 35C idle.

Thanks

Buy a motherboard that can and will overclock, ECS are not meant for that.

Here, Sladesurfer is selling his P5WD2-Premium for $60 shipped, you will not find a better deal with a motherboard that will certainly overclock that 3.40ghz pass 4.0ghz. I'm sure with the proper cooling you could get the 3.40ghz to at least 4.20ghz.

So jump on that and you'll get yourself a nice OC and better performance overall.

Why cant I at least try and see if I can get a stable OC on this motherboard?
It has all the settings any of the Asus boards would have.

Besides ECS used to be low end but they have been getting a lot better, so before I even think about getting another board I would like to see what this one could do.
And altough that Asus P5WD2 Premium is tempting but it requires DDR2 800 as its standard and I am buy new ram whatsoever.

any suggestions on what to input, ram timings are really not my thing.

Also the vcore for the cpu is set to auto, I am guessing I should set it manually to stock?

well firstly i would set the vcore manually to stock

then i would lower the timings to 4-4-4-12

the timings your using are really tight for ddr2.

also intel's like raw speed more than tight timings

then if it still isnt stable i would bump the vcore one notch
