Upgrade from i7 920???.

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

I was wondering if it would be smart to upgrade to a Sandy Bridge processor like a 2600k from my i7 920.

Would it be a significant difference? or should I just wait for something else?

Thanks.

I would say no. I upgraded from a 920 to a 2600k and yes it does perform better, but not so much that I would say jump right in. If you are rendering, it will be better for that but if you are just gaming and use it for general use, you probably will not notice much of a difference. What do you use the computer for mostly? What's the reason for upgrading?

ive JUST upgraded from 920.. to a 2500K (overclocked to 4.3GHz)

i feel litteraly no difference in games and .. well .. thats all i do. gaming tongue.gif

i was gonna upgrade to ivy bridge, but i couldnt wait, and i had a buyer for the old hardware.

So far, i dont feel like upgrading to ivy bridge, at all. no need for it..

maybe if i did a lot of .. processor heavy stuff.

ill consider getting a haswell instead, next year. or ivy bridge extreme tongue.gif
But again, i doubt that it will be any significant difference, in my gaming experience

edit: for gaming i guess putting my games on a SSD would help the gaming experience, but i havnt tried that yet actually :O

Go for a graphics card upgrade for gaming before you upgrade your CPU. That will give you the most difference in gaming.
