AES and TKIP

Thread Starter
I know the difference between AES and TKIP, and I know that AES is usually the best option to use.

My question is, if I have both AES and TKIP enabled on my router, are the vulnerabilities in TKIP still an issue even if none of the clients are using it? I would like to leave it enabled on the router as a backup option as long as it won't make it less secure, even if all my clients are using AES.

I wouldn't trust TKIP. If someone can crack it )which IMO is doubtful), they can gain access to your router. AES is a good deterrent to avoid that.

If I were you, I'd stick to AES only.

Thanks. I'll switch it over to AES only. It sounds like there doesn't need to be a connection to a client using TKIP for it to present a risk, good to know.
