Also because of the low speed, most of the "Amazing features" won't do anything for the pressure. And because the GT can spin faster with less noise, the GT will produce more pressure. My testing was done on a fairly tightly finned heatsink which is more restrictive than a radiator.

Thanks for the info thumb.gif

@OP: Looks like you've got your answer.

Go for the AP-15's and a suitable fan controller smile.gif

If you use a huge Rad with low density it doesnt matter if the GT pushes a few CFM more or less. The best bearing with little to no sidenoise is the Most important aspect. wich is why the best you could Do is to get One product sample from each Fan mentioned (GT,BQ,NB) and listen for yourself. Because at the end of the day different people like different Fans soundwise.
Thats also why i Do Not use TR TY140 Fans wich have usually stellar Test results when it comes to CFM/DBa and a lot of people love them, but to me their bearing Sound is a bit annoying just like the GTs. Thats why you need to lsiten for yourself if you ask me.

This. Martin's tests (which I actually like a lot), also don't tell the whole story when it comes to cooling performance, since much of that is going to be determined by not only static pressure, but the fan's ability to mitigate laminar flow vs. turbulence, and create suction via efficient control of airflow variance along the blades. This is an area where a refined fan like the Noctua NF-F12, for instance, excels, and why in most cases (not all) I've seen it outcools the GT on rads at lower sound pressure/rpm, not to mention the absence of parasitic noise from its high quality bearing.

A friend of me (audioholic) also want's a dead-silent PC to enjoy his music without being disturbed by fan noises etc...

I told him, why not try this: (don't know if it works/cools good enough. Your PC-case under the wooden case)

The wooden case is just 3 sided (top, left and right) so no totaly closed box. This way it's easy to reach your PC if needed... It will not fall over cause it leans to the walls...

700

And if that does not help, drill a hole through the wall where your monitor stands and hook up your PC in that room (unless it's the neighbours room tongue.gif)

Will do. I think I did forget to mention that a fan controller was part of my plan, so that should make life easier. Thanks to everyone who contributed so far smile.gif

So, say around 500rpm? Thats where I am headed.

I would love the idea, but I'm afraid I can't go that far. I still have to leave the PC in my room, under my table wink.gif

it cant be stressed enough: if you Talk about "ultra silent" you want the best bearing possible with little to no parasitic sidenoise.
Because at 500rpm the only thing you'll be able to hear is the bearing.
and i havent heard a double Ball bearing yet wich runs as smooth as a High quality FDB at lower Fan speeds.
IMO GTs excel at higher rpms (1000-2000) where you need the best possible Performance at a relatively moderate noiselevel.

I have these M12-S2's on my H80, 650 RPM's and they are completely inaudible at a 2.5 foot range. I couldn't love these fans any more than I do. smile.gif

Oh and with those M12-S2s, be prepared for HDD seek noise to become the next prevalent sound generator. Getting a lower RPM drive / Green 1 platter drive will be immensely helpful in reducing that to near zero... or go full SSD. Also, the Pump will be noisy device two.

Enjoy the silence, nothing can really explain the bliss that is a silent PC biggrin.gif

I was about to go to sleep, and then this post comes, and gets me hyped up. About what? Nothing. Exactly, the non-existence of noise wink.gif Thanks for the confirmation Munky. The best thing is those are one of the few fans I can directly buy in Austria, without having to go through shipping from a distant blotch of grass somewhere in the world. And if I decouple the pump with a shoggy sandwich or some screws with rubber between the pump and the rad, the pump should be silent as well at lower RPM. I'd love to go full SSD but I currently have 700gigs of data on my HDD's right now, and a few more terabytes in my cellar on a QNAS. That would be expensive in terms of fast SSD's. So I will have to stick with noisy HDD's (for now devil-smiley-019.gif)
