GT-a? GT-B? Link?

Well the Multiframe at 500rpm would be tough to hear unless you were licking it. What it will accomplish at the speed is another matter. I don't know of any fan that pushes effective air at 500rpm other than my 120x38 Sanyo Denki, but it clicks terribly. Maybe a large diameter top exhaust fan can get away with that speed, but not much else. There are several fans that I would consider practically non-existent noise wise up to 750rpm: the NB, Sharkoon, GT-13, Nexus Basic...to name a few. And my noise standards border on crazy.

Shooting for total silence is frustrating, and to some degree a battle that cannot be won with a decently powered system. I'm still trying.

I didn't go through all the thread but I can share my personal experience with you: I've got three 120mm Noise Blockers XL1 in my case (my rig's picture is actually of the two at the top) and they are pretty silent; I also have a 200mm Cooler Master fan at the front (came standard with the case, I replaced the fan at the back that came standard with one Noise Blocker because it made a slightly audible noise), and an Arcticc Cooling Freezer 7 Pro as my CPU cooler and an Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme Plus, which has 3 fans, as my GPU cooler. I also have 2 mechanical HDDs and when I upgraded to 8GB of RAM I installed a fan bracket from Corsair to cool the RAM.

My personal experience was of a pretty silent computer unless one of the HDDs started spinning, in which case I can hear it spin up, but then the noise levels. The one thing that made the noise level of my PC rise was the fan bracket from Corsair, which made a noticeable sound. Then I connected it together with one of the other fans (I think it's with the 200 mm fan) so it would spin at a lower RPM and that lowered the noise level (it's lower and not a bothering sound anymore), but it's still higher than it used to be. I will not be using that bracket in my upgraded rig which has the DIMMs spaced apart, so they get better airflow, and they are DDR3 instead of DDR2, so they are likely (my uneducated guess) to get less hot.

You find the 200mm Cooler Master fan to be acceptable as part of a silent rig in other words? I wish I could find out, but the fans I ordered for my case are delayed by a day so I have to wait till tomorrow to find out.

Yes I do, and it has red leds, which I was a bit afraid would be distracting when I considered buying the case, but they have just the right luminosity and I like it a lot. The fan does looks like it is well made too (it's made out of transparent plastic). I couldn't say the same about the 120mm fan at the back, that one made an audible sound that you could tell apart from the rest of the fans. I couldn't tell where it came from, it could be from the bearing or from the fan blades or the frame. It also looked like a generic black fan with a Cooler Master hologram sticker on it. Since I was going to put two Noise Blockers XL1 at the top, I decided to also replace the 120mm Cooler Master with one Noise Blocker too.

haha.

I've actually thought about that. I so want someone to figure out how to make that into 120mm.
