Decisions Decisions... Which GPU Should I Go With? - Page 3

The 480 is equivalent to the 570, but it can also act like a room heater if you wish (like running hurmark during winter tongue.gif). Many games seems to have a tendency for one or another architecture but usually for nVidia (no, I don't want to start te usual battle between both camp).

So since the 570 is a 480 with more efficent card and I don't like buying old stuff (unless it's a 5970 or a 295 gtx) , I would go for the 570gtx.
Just found that, I think it's synthetic but still... Passmark

Wow, now that's amazing tongue.gif this really helps, thanks biggrin.gif but then again, I'm focused on the BF3 results because, if anything, I would be playing BF3 more than ANY of the other games I have.

Lol I don't need a room heater in Cali xD only when it's raining tongue.gif

Anyway, yeah that is so true! I've seen a lot of games that are better with nVidia cards than ATI cards (and NO I'm not bashing on ATI). Especially Battlefield games. And that's what I'm looking for (well, mostly). BF3, like I stated above, is probably the game I'd be playing the most, and nVidia cards have that advantage.

Oh and thanks for that link. It really helped too smile.gif By the looks of it, the 570 is better than the 7850...

However, I am on a "budget" you could say. Since my dad is buying it, he wants "the best, for less" or "bang for your buck" which the 7850 seems like.

Hmmmm....still gotta think about it. BTW thank you both SO MUCH. You've been very helpful. smile.gif

Hmm... the GTX 570 I was planning to get (the MSI Twin Frozr III) is going to be sold out (only one left in my local Micro Center). And another issue is money, and right now, the 7850 is the best "bang for my buck" right now... (found one for $265 and free shipping and its the ASUS DirectCUII so I'll definitely be able to OC it to the performance PontiacGTX's charts show. Versus the $300 GTX 570.... which, again, is going to be sold out.)

My main GPU I was planning to get WAS the MSI... but now it's starting to head towards the 7850.

EDIT: Yup, the 570 I was planning to get sold out. So that goes out the list unless someone has something similar or better (it was $280, with tax it would be $300).

Read the first two pages of this forum and you'll know exactly which card to get. I actually plan on getting it my self in the summer time. http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18389760

Get a Sapphire Toxic or Dirt 3 6950, almost always unlocks to a 6970 without flashing, or find a 7850 that can flash to a 7870.

O.O Now that caught my eye. A 7850 can OC THAT high?! biggrin.gif

Chances of getting a 7850 are even higher. smile.gif However, does it depend on what card it is? I'm planning on getting the ASUS DirectCUII 7850 (about $265) and the tweak that post said was the ASUS's official OC tweaker... thumb.gif

Hmmm I'm not 100% sure some say other brands overclock better than others, but that oc tweaked should work with any card at least that's what they said in that link I posted. I'm still looking this up my self.

I'm pretty sure ASUS's DirectCUII is one of those brands that can OC better than others. Those cards are mean't to be OC'ed
