So I just purchased Crysis 2... - Page 2

It's decent in it's own right, as far as FPS games go, but it doesn't live up to Crysis 1 which was a much better game in my opinion.

Its fun and no matter what people say the game looks above average, its just not as mind blowing as crysis 1. For $7.50 you shouldn't have anything to complain about.

If you paid anymore i would feel sorry. But that about sums up the price for the game. Jk, maybe $20. So congrats.

I really liked the game, but well different people have different opinions.

At first when the game released it could have been considered lazy in graphics performance, but Crytek released a DX11 patch and high res textures pack. Both my 580's are almost always pegged to the max when running this game so it still puts some serious load on a good rig.

I'm on my fourth run of the game. I don't know what it had that I like it so much. The games does feel a little claustrophobic when compared to the jungles on the other two, but it still plays great. Haven't tried multiplayer though.

Have fun!

Download the High-Res pack, just don't enable DX11. My 5770 handled it fine smile.gif Everybody saying it's a console port is right, but it handles very well, and looks pretty, even with a mid-range card.

Great price! Enjoy smile.gif

You got a great value for the money. Should suffice for 12-15+ hours of entertainment, for the cost of a mediocre meal. I got mine for $10 through Origin some time back, and it was worth every penny.

People are going to complain about anything they can, just like babies cry for attention. In reality, once you get into the gameplay, you never notice that there are a few pixels fewer. The plot of the game is decent, too.

Enjoy!

Somebody on this forum (I forget his s/n) has a good write-up about the definition of a console port. I would have thought it self-explanatory, but a console port is NOT the same as a game that was designed for consoles. From the wiki:

"Console Port" is a term specifically used to describe a game that was originally made for a console (such as Wii or Xbox 360) before an identical version is created which can be played on a personal computer. "

Emphasis added. A game is only a port if it was originally made for one platform, before being ported (or "carried") over to another platform. Crysis 2 was developed simultaneously for consoles and PCs, therefor it is not a console port.

I do believe that there should be a word in our lexicon that succinctly describes a game that was designed with consoles as the primary platform and therefor looks like a bad joke on PC (because this is such a damn prevalent occurrence), however we don't have that word yet and "console port" definitely isn't it.
