ATCS 840 - does it fit a RX360 rev2 internally? Thinking of going water cooling

Thread Starter
Well my CPU probably doesn't warrant water cooling as it is an I7 860, but I really want to get my video card (MSI 7970) water cooled as it is very temperature sensitive for artifacting unfortunately (above 72 C when trying to clock it at 1100+ mhz) and I might as well do the CPU at the same time. Eventually, I will upgrade to an Ivy bridge processor that really overclocks well.

For now, I want to do a setup inside my ATCS 840 case and I want to water cool both the CPU and GPU. Is a single RX360 enough and will it fit in my case? The dimensions seem like it would work, but I am not sure how well it will attach to the top (on the inside), my case comes with some adapter for 3 120 mm fans or a radiator for that area.

Is it a kit like the XSPC360 raystorm extreme worthwhile for a beginner or am I much better off with going for separate items for cheaper? Performance PCS does give a choice regarding fittings/tubings size - any benefit to choosing 1/2 inch over 7/16 default? They also have a choice in fans for $6.99, although I dont understand the choice of 1650 rpm since the radiator already comes with that.

Finally, once I do have a water cooled CPU/GPU, is there any reason to keep the remaining case fans going? I have the default case fan to cool the hard drives, a scythe fan at the bottom of the case and a scythe as a GPU exhaust, and a default fan to the rear of the CPU cooler.

Thanks, total newbie here regarding water cooling.

The RX should fit, but maybe a bit of a squeeze. I have a Black Ice Xtreme 360 uptop and with the 25mm fans, its tight, very close to the motherboard tray holder. So measure properly before going ahead.

For the watercooling side, the xspc is a good kit, but the pump is a bit weak. Try and see if you can get a set of parts both new and used to make up your loop in the same price. There is a whole lot of stuff for sale in the for sale section.

BTW, the RX rads are way better than the RS rads.

Mav2000, the pump used in this kit is a d5(aka mcp655), not the xspc 750lph one used in the rasa kits.
Yes the kit should perform well, let me know how it goes =)!

The RX rads will fit, even with push pull fans up top

Push pull should be difficult in my opinion
