x1950 xtx crossfire question?

does the x1950 xtx need a master and slave for crossfire now , or does it do it in software?

No with the X1950XTX series it has the Crossfire inbuilt into the G-card so with the right crossfire motherboard a Master card will not be needed however they sell them anyway.

You still need a "Crossfire Edition" master card.

It is possible to not use the dongle or MC, but performance of the cards will suffer.

If you don't use a MC with the dongle the cards communicate through the pci-e bus
