Adaptive vsync is mind blowingly simple. Vsync on for 60fps+, vsync off if you drop below 60fps. If you understand how it works then there's nothing else going on and it's certainly not a gimmick. If you were expecting input lag reduction at 60fps, that's a job triple buffering (or an fps limiter at 59fps). You're not making any sense because regular vsync has worse input lag and it cuts the framerate in half rather than dipping naturally.

I'm not making sense because I don't see the point of vsync or adaptive vsync? Is that your reasoning behind this statement? They are both extensions of the same frame limiting technique. The only difference is that adaptive vsync has an extra algorithm added on top of it that shuts off vsync when the framerate drops below 60 fps. Also, most modern adaptations of vsync cut down framerates more progressively to eliminate that sudden loss in playability (60 -> 45 -> 40 -> 30 -> 24, etc. etc. etc.) The days of going 60, 30, 20, 15 have been over for years now.

Now what would be truly adaptive is that if the framerate went past 60 fps, it would continue to "click" up on framerates (60 -> 75 -> 90 -> 120 -> 150 etc. ) If adaptive vsync did that, then I would be a believer in it. As it stands, as with regular vsync, adaptive vsync is in most cases nothing more than a power-saving technique for games that have stupidly high fps. Any serious gamer will turn off vsync completely though.

If it's the difference between 60fps and 100 fps, I choose 100. I couldn't care less how much my screen tears, as long as the game is more responsive and playable.

EDIT: Driver level Vsync still uses traditional 60,30,20 (numbers that go into 60 at even intervals) framerate limiting. Most games use a different approach of limiting framerates that makes the game keep the frames higher.

Not a fan of FXAA, I played a few games with it on (League of Legends and Guild Wars) and it tends to blur elements of the UI and text. It *is* fast though, and if I didn't have the power for real good AA (I run both those games with 8x or 16x), then I might be able to tolerate it... rolleyes.gif

You noticed that too? The actual graphics seem great.. but I constantly have issues with game's UI being blurred with FXAA.

I'll stick to my old and trusty 4x MSAA.

Still the best method for AA in LoL. Any other method makes messed up bars on your character and weird flashing shadows at the base. With this and -LOD Bias the game looks GREAT but the tab scoreboard looks like absolute crap.

Shame on Nvidia, that was a poor blow right there.

This is a joke right?

Yeah... upgrading from a single 580 to the next generation card to double performance is a waste. rolleyes.gif

Yea FXAA can Blurr the UI cause it is a Fullscreen Shader effect as long the game doesnt support FXAA itself the Driver cant know wich elements to spare, but the performance is outstanding i have allmost no FPS loss on a gtx 460 i played around with SWTOR going from ingame High AA with Enhanced to 16x CSAA to FXAA, FXAA offers allmost 16x Quality with AA off Performance u hardly lose any FPS with FXAA. It´s amazing.

I too rolled back from the recent driver update I did lke a week ago. Had a lot of freezes and lock-ups doing various games. I will install these new beta drivers in a few minutes.

On a side note, is ANYBODY having problems watching Youtube videos? I'm getting green and pink static and lines when I load a video not in full-screen and even full-green videos on non-youtube sites. Help?

The last usable drivers for me are 285.79 mad.gif, Everything afterwards produces weird lines/artifcats on my primary monitor when SLI is enabled.
