I just want to make sure that these parts will go together, and get suggestions on different parts that are either more cost effective or what have you. I'm trying not to go crazy with the price, even this at $2250 or so is a little pricey for me. Anyway, check it out.

Everything works yes, if you are looking at overclocking it though, I would suggest going with either the 3800+ X2 or the 4200 X2 there arent any difference between these and the 4600 except for clock speed, which you can bump up.

Other that, one kicking build man.

hehe Thanks for the suggestions. Thanks so much!

I'm definitely not experienced with SLI, so I am surprised I guessed the right parts the first time.

When building this, do I simply plug the video cards in or is there something I have to wire together between the two cards to get them working together?

I'd get this cpu over the one u have planned. I hear the lower wattage version don't oc as well and this one has the 1mb L2 cache. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103754. I love my DFI 590 board too and thats also a few bucks less than the crosshair. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813136014

I would go Conroe... but the build looks nice, except the case.

i would get like a Armor ($130ish) and put the money you saved to a higher end gpu

Hmm, you're right. I was reading the reviews on that, quad cores are coming out by Christmas? Damn... When those come out, wont the price for that processor go down a little?

That'll be nice.

I also heavily sudgest you get this GPU...This thing is a beast and in SLI it will blow everything out of the water. But also, perhpas you just want to get 1 for now because DX10 is right around the corner and you will be buying the DX10 cards before you know it.

I also second the 3800 X2 idea. The 3800 is a beast and overclocks well!

I also recomend you get a 10k RPM HD (Raptor)...its a GREAT increase in performance. You can get a 250mb HD for data as well....thats what I am doing now and it works great.

Good luck with the build, that thing will be a beast.

I would advise against the Raptor if money is an issue which it is for most people. you can get 2 250 GB 7200 RPM Hard Drives for the price of one raptor. And I think Raptors are a joke, just made to make you spend your money, those two 250 GB Hard Drives in Raid are faster than a Raptor in most respects, including 3x the storage space.

I used 2 seagate barrucadas, 250gb in raid, and I was not impressed at all. Switched in one raptor 150gb and I saw world of difference in loading times, for windows, apps, and games and just overall snappiness to the system from better seek times. I picked up a second one recently and tried it in raid, but again I was not impressed with the raid 0 results. Got really high sustained transfer rates but my seek times went from average 6ms to 9ms, so now im using them as seperate drives. Perhaps it's due to using onboard NVraid but I gotta disagree with Kamikazi here, I think one of the 150gb raptors > 2 Seagate Barracudas in raid-0

Depends on what your gonna be doing with your PC. Handling big files - video, dvd ripping, etc, raid 0 it up. But if your gonna game, then I would def recommend a raptor. They are pricey, but imho worth it if you want that extra mmph!
