Me first PC setup, AMD. - Page 9

Honestly, unless you're going to be pushing your rig past the maximum specs (extreme overclocking) you can get the same results from an H80/H100 and a very good aftermarket gpu cooler for a lot less money and less risk.

Just to give you an idea, my XFX HD5870 was idling in the 60's and hitting max in the 80's to low 90's. I picked up the zalman vf3000a and now I'm idling in the 30's with a max in the 40's (celsius of course).

Yeah i would definitely go for an Intel i5. The K versions are great for overclocking. Plus the way AMD Faildozer is going, its like getting a Honda. The i5 2500k is more of a Ferrari wink.gif

Well you can get your graphics card cooled + your CPU, with huge better performance for like 50 euros more then the normal H100"120 euro"

I aint sure about it yet :?

Also does most high end graphics card have a unlocked Volt ? so you can overclock it also?
Cause me old HD 5770 doesnt.

To do that you have to use 3rd party overclocking tools or a bios editor.

And yes you can get better cooling with a custom built water cooling system BUT it costs more (even if just 50 euros) and you run the risk of leaks if you don't set it up properly (and even if you do set it up properly).

An H80 should overclock his chip to it's safe voltage limits. Doing a custom watercooling setup on your first PC is not recommended. Grab an H80 or a CM 212+ (whichever fits into your budget) and you should get a decent overclock. Do some research on watercooling and how to test for leaks, fill ports, etc... before you start even considering watercooling.

Exactly. Too many things can go wrong with your first WC setup. Unless you're doing extreme overclocking I don't see the benefit. With an H80 you can really push your system. You might not cross the 5.2GHz barrier (if you have a chip that can do it) but really who cares at that point lol. An i5 2500k clocked to 5GHz is already screaming "kill 'em all and let god sort it out".
Also, there is very minimal improvement from overclocking past 4.5GHz. Which MOST chips can do without an issue.

It's funny, in my other thread I'm playing around with my 6100 I'm comparing benchmarks vs the i3-2100 and i3-2120 benchmarks. I'm watching it take them, pimp slap them around, stops for a quick bite to eat, beats them like red-headed step children and then makes fun of their momma's without nary a peep from Mr. Intel fanboy who thinks they're a much better buy at the same price point. Hmmmm....interesting.

Well,

Then i think i will do a H80-100 and maybe an other GPU cooler,

Or a liquid cooling set,

I aint sure yet since they look so good and they perform great :/
"I think it should look awsome with UV responsive tubes/water and then UV light on it biggrin.gif "

Also i think i gonna upgrade me rig with a Adata 120 GB SSD and a 2600k instead of 2500k,

But when i have the money for me new PC the new Ivy bridge processors proberly are out, So the processor proberly will change again.

Btw are the new IVY bridges with 1115 sockets?
Else the motherboard maybe also gonna get a change.
