All voltages stock, I just upped the multiplier. Runs great. With better cooling I could probably go over 4.5ghz with ease, but I really don't need that much right now. It's a great processor for the money. biggrin.gif Hope that helps.

Welcome to the world of AMD gaming ITS a great place to be.

Thanks Ryncrash. smile.gif I've actually had the majority of my pc's with AMD in them. I actually like them better than intel, especially this 8120. I'm now up to 4.23Ghz with stock cooling and its a BEAST! Skyrim runs like a dream now. I'm looking into upgrading the HS though so I can maybe get up to 5Ghz. I got the Overclocking bug! I was thinking about getting the CM 212 evo, is that really the best bang for the buck at under $40?

It is so refreshing to see a positive AMD thread for a change. Cant believe the hordes of haters havent started pouring in here yet to tell you how much better Intel wouldve been.

The Hyper 212 is the best cooler on the market dollar for dollar. Mine (212+) is doing a great job and keeping my X6 in the low to mid 50's during Prime95. Thats not super low but thats pretty respectable considering the overclock. You might want something a little beefier though because from what I read, Bulldozer really starts to put out the heat once you get passed the 4.5 mark. Might be a little too much for a Hyper.

im happy with my 8120, im up to 4.0 on stock volts i will clock it up further when i get my sabertooth because my current board has 4+1 vrm biggrin.gif

Youll love it when you get the Sabertooth. That board has so many different options and the UEFI BIOS is superb. Youll have a ball! Dont forget to play with the ACC settings too. This helped me get my clock stable at less voltage. Cant tell you exactly what I did cause honestly I just did a lot of trial and error and when something worked, I stopped fidgetting with it.

Thx for the info and yeah I've heard the same about Bulldozers, that's why I wanted some more input on the HS. Have any suggestions for me that would keep it under 50c with Prime? Right now at 4.2 it gets to the high 50's, but running Skyrim or BF3 only gets the cores up to 48c or so max. Any higher OC and I'll need some serious cooling. I've heard the frio is good, but its always compared to the 212 and you seem to think the 212 won't suffice for this chip. I don't want to use water cooling (would drive me crazy worrying about leaks).

HAVIK 120
HAVIK 140
COOLER MASTER X6 Elite
Thermaltake Frio Overclocking-Ready
Scythe 120mm Ninja
Scythe YASYA

I have the Havik 140 its a beast, only recommed if you have alot of room in your case its is a big CPU cooler but works like a charm.

Dont get me wrong, the 212 is a great cooler and would get the job done up to 4.5 Id bet but if youre wanting to go over that, I think youll need a little more muscle. The Thermaltake Frio is a good one. One of the best actually. Its a little louder than the other top coolers but I dont think it would be that bad. According to reviews, its quieter than my 212 and I have no problems with the noise from mine.

One thing to remember is that if your RAM has those big gawdy heat fins on them, it could be a problem. I bought the cool looking Corsair Vengeance RAM for mine and almost had to return them. They fit in the outter RAM slots but block some of the fan's line of sight so Im probably losing some air flow. Im probably going to upgrade to 8GB of some of Corsair's low profile Vengeance RAM.

That's why they designed it that way. IT was a megaflop, but people still insist on buying it because common logic would say that MOAR COARS is always better! AMD knew people couldn't resist MOAR COARS, even if it was less performance than the competitor. But seeing as its on sale for $130 now, it is a bargain.

The 212+ is a great budget cooler but you won't get 5ghz on it. Look at the noctua nh-d14, corsair h80/h100, or the Silver Arrow
