LOL indeed. We will likely NEVER achieve 200MPG average on a vehicle weighing 3k+lbs. Gasoline has around 125,000BTU/gallon. that number is fixed, as is the amount of energy it take to accelerate a 3200lb weight from a stop sign up to 30mph under ideal conditions. why do you think the talk about highway mpg but not city on new vehicles? there's always work to be done in a wind tunnel, but only so much you can do without reducing vehicular mass.

At some point in the future, battery Wh/L will make gasoline based energy storage look silly from a volume standpoint. is it going to be a while? Absolutely. will it happen? Unless the earth cracks in half or zombies happen, count on it.

One golf ball of thorium is enough for the life time of a family in energy needs. 1gr of thorium in a small plant within a car would be enough for a whole year. Wanna see how common thorium is?

400

Screw fossil fuels period.

See above response. ^

EDIT: For the graph as only a 15 year old. I do not know what I'm looking at. *Shrug*

^ To above poster.

ppM just means Parts Per Million. As in out of 1,000,000 grams (1,000 kg, 1 megagram/tonne) of soil you would on average only find 10 grams of Thorium or 10 parts per million.

As you can see Uranium-235 and gold are pretty rare.

Engineers these days just need to find an alternative to combustion and fire to produce energy.

...mostly because of environmental regulations that have increased the cost of production...

this is the reason why China can out compete the us in production of anything, china just doesn't care
