That i3 could probably run diablo 3 at low to medium but anything higher would require a dedicated card. The i3 also would be able to handle things processing wise for those games but if he ever wanted to get a dedicated card and play games such as bf3 that dual core i3 would become a bottleneck.

as for the ram psu and board they are decent. if you have no plans to add a dedicated card you could probably move the psu wattage down as 550 is a bit much for a i3 without a dedicated gpu so you could save a few bucks there.

Cool, first time using intel stuff, going to experiment with brothers computer before I dive into mine. Wish his usage justified spending more money for a 'k' series proc but it just really doesn't.

LOL ok in that case that system is MORE than powerful enough for those games. Just keep in mind if he wants to play any high end games like bf3 a i5 would be a much better choice for a cpu and definitely worth the extra $$$ imo as i think the i5 2500ks are sitting at $212.00 on the egg atm.

its never bad to spend a little extra on a cpu to add some more possible lifespan to a system

He's a crap box guy so he wont be playing any ports. Like i said LoL and Diablo III will really be the extent of his use on this machine. If he wants to upgrade he can do it on his dime, i said I'd finance this one just so he could give it a try.

OOOH in that case yea i3 with a 470 is perfect and really kinda of overkill for diablo 3 he should be perfectly content with that setup.
