yes the fan stays maxed and the onboard is the only thing that pushes out a picture (yes we disable it)

But seriously glitchy PSU or card or the bios defaulting to onboard with the 8800 but not the 4870. When you put in the 8800 see if you can hook up the monitor using the onboard ports and not the ones on the GPU. See if you get picture and if the system boots and if so go into the Bios and see if you can then switch to PCI-e video out basically.
i tried that it only pushes video from the onboard. and the 8800 works flawlessly in my rig i was playing crysis 2 on it last night
