First time CPU overclocker here, having fun playing with my i5 2500k, but I have some questions...
I'm using an Asus z68 with the UEFI Bios, an I5 2500k, and a V6GT cooler. I started out by simply raising the core multiplier to 40, and setting the voltage to 1.25, while leaving the M bus at 103. This worked great, temps below 60 running prime for 20 minutes. I then raised to 42, still worked great. When I raised to 45, I got a crash, so I decided to raise voltage to 1.30 and see what would run stable there. I ended up getting the multiplier to 49 (touching 5.0 ghz in prime) with tempatures still under 70 after 20 minutes. So after reading around, it seems that 5.0 ghz is quite uncommon for a voltage as low as 1.30, and I could seemingly go on higher and higher... but as a novice overclocker, I have to think that something isn't quite right here.
Also Relevant, Windows experience index never goes above 7.6, even at 5.0ghz. Seems unusual. Also, I'm running 1333mhz ram, soon to upgrade.
