Socket 1155 coolers compatible with socket 1150 (Haswell)?

Thread Starter
Intel confirmed that Haswell will use socket 1150 and DDR3.

So my question is, does that mean all current socket 1155 coolers will be compatible with socket 1150, since it seems highly unlikely that Intel would change the mounting setup?
I've seen a few random forum posts asserting it will, but no hard evidence.

Obviously there's no guarantee -- just looking for some help convincing myself to go for a really powerful cooler like an NH-D14 over my current Hyper 212+, as it will only be worthwhile if it survives the upgrade to Haswell.

Yes. LGA1150 (Socket H3) will have the same mounting specification as LGA1156 and LGA1155. All Intel have done is removed five pins from LGA1155 and rearrange the pin layout slightly.

So a cooler that can be mounted on LGA1156 and/or LGA1155 can also be mounted on LGA1150.

It's very likely that the spacing will be the same, just a little too early to confirm though thumb.gif

Scuttlebutt says LGA 1150 will use same mount as 1155/1156.. same spacing and spec. I see nobody saying otherwise.

ok good to know. i have been back and forth between getting an x79 setup or waiting for haswell. as nice as it would be to have a 3930k, i really cant justify the price for it as the only thing that I would actually use it for is folding. i guess now i can start buying the rest of my water cooling gear.
