OCZ DDR3 PC3-10666 GOLD EDITION Bad Memory?

Ok so My dad bought these OCZ DDR3 PC3-10666 GOLD EDITION memory sticks on NCIX and we just had them for spares but then i bought a new computer and i started using these. But when i was using both the sticks (8gbs) I had blue screen errors. So i thought maybe its the memory thats causing it and it was! one of my sticks i believe are bad. But my dad said i just need to up the voltage on my sticks. Is he right or am i right? Because i think i dont need to up the voltage on my memory just too use the sticks on my Computer! thats just crazy. So im wondering if i should get new memory or try uping the voltage if so how do i do it safely?

Find out what voltage your RAM runs at, usually located on the packaging or OCZ's website. Once you know that, set the correct voltage in the BIOS setup (some boards will undervolt RAM). If you still experience problems, then run memtest86.
