Biostar or ASrock Z77?

Thread Starter
I posted a few weeks ago that i was going to be building a budget rig. Now that Z77 just released , this new lucid virtu is appealing. My original board i was going to get was the BIOSTAR TZ68K+ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138344

However now im thinking of either Asrock's Z77 or Biostar's.

BIOSTAR TZ77B - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138352

ASRock Z77 Pro3 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157297

The only differences i can see is ASrock has 1 less PCI x1 , support for 2800+ ram speeds, and 2 more usb 2.0

any thoughts on the companies/boards ?

i personally would never get a motherboard from biostar , ASRock is the brand i recommend to people that want to spend 100-125$ on a 1155 motherboard.
IMO nothing against Biostar but ASRock has been producing great solid boards, i would go with ASrock and spend an extra $20 on this one
ASRock Z77 Extreme4 LGA 1155
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157293

there are some other nice boards and manufactures but this would a nice price/performance ratio smile.gif

would the pro3 be okay?, i don't really need all the extra slots/ports. I don't think im planning on xfire/SLI anytime soon.

it will be fine but IMO for an extra $20 atleast you will have an extra PCIe 3.0 slot for the future.. plus im not sure if you want to overclock but the extreme4 i recommend has better chipset and mosfet cooling that will help get a better OC at lower temps AFAIK smile.gif

I have owned a Tseries Biostar board for AMD a few years back. It was a good solid board. I never tried to overclock on it though, so I cannot comment on that. I would buy Biostar again, plus they now have a 4yr warranty http://www.vortez.net/news_story/biostar_offer_4_years_warranty.html
I am actually thinking of picking up the TZ77B and install a 3570k
