For BF3 Ultra 1080p what frequency 2500k - Page 2

I think SLI is more CPU demanding then than a single GPU? Which could be a contributing factor?
Thanks for the replies as well guys

If anything the higher frequency will definitely help keep the minimum frames up, especially on 64 player maps where the CPU has a lot of work to do. You can try lowering it and see if it is acceptable for you, otherwise keep it where it is.

The difference between a 580 and 460's in SLI is minimal, a few fps at best both ways if you check some benchies. A higher cpu clock will only be put to use if you are using high end GPU's in SLI/CFX or you are running very low resolutions. I would keep your cpu at 4ghz. with the setup you currently have. thumb.gif

I used to use it at 4.0

It would be @ 59FPS most of the time dipping to high 40s and 50s every so often and was noticeable.

At 4.5 the extra 12.5% CPU power seems to really help push the min fps up and I haven't noticed it dip at all.

I'm pretty sure that it is beneficial it's just not many people think so and you doubt yourself but it definiately seems to be better, for anyone else thinking of trying.

Well then you have answered your own question, if you see gains in performance @ 4.5ghz compared to 4ghz then keep it there.

This, and improve fan speeds to an acceptible level/live with temperatures at 50-60 degrees over 40-50 degrees/get better fans/live with lower performance thumb.gif

GL with it. What setting are your corsair fans on (the button on the H100 how many lights are showing) 1, 2 or 3?

I have the H100 on setting at highest, which at 4.0 never made a noise unless I played games, with 4.5 it spins up under some websites, in BF3 I'm getting about 50-55C, ambient is usually about 25c.

Just place the h100 at setting 2, 60C or so shouldn't be bad for the chip?
