I also doubt you can run most games with 4xMSAA because I can barely do that with a better CPU and GPU. At least I can barely do it in Dx11 games which are the only games that really show a signifcant graphical upgrade over console games and even that is excluding the really good looking exclusive console games like God of War and Uncharted. Most AAA games nowadays are almost the same graphically across all platforms with the exception of resolution. Mass Effect 3 for example is literally the exact same assets across PC, 360 and PS3. In fact most games nowadays are like this and those that are different usually show very small differences and most of the time are in lighting and effects not textures or actual game assets.

Also the 470 retailed for a lot higher when it was new and relevant so I don't know why you would even bring up the price you paid for it. A quick ebay search shows that most 470s are still going for more then 130 dollars now anyway.

And what resolution are you at? I'm at 1080p. I can provide proof if you really need it...BF3 dips below 30 rarely but only when there's a bunch of tanks shooting on screen. As for $130, I got it for AU$200 with a waterblock. I can find the thread on OCAU if you want me to, but you'll need an account that can view the shop and swap section. (Which generally nets lower prices than eBay.)

Sorry if repost but, this seems rumour seems to have originated from a faked/photoshopped photo of a slide.

The original is from a Gartner blog post of late 2010:
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
I wonder who went to the effort of making this though....

There's no chance your PC will be able to run games on the level of next gen consoles especially once year 2 and 3 roll along in their life cycle. Look at a game like Uncharted 3 and tell me an Athlon x2 and a 1900XT could run it. No chance.

core 2 duo+gt250= 60fps Crysis 2 "High" Settings (aka console settings) @ 720p
Xbox 360/Ps3= 30fps (lots of 24fps there though) Crysis 2 @ 720p

Your argument is completely invalid.

Hmm, at first I thought they were going to commit the same mistake that Sony did with their 7 core cell processor. Unless all consoles have it, developers are unlikely to optimize games for it. However, if Microsoft is using the extra cores exclusively for stuff like motion tracking (thereby improving it greatly) then this could be a real boon for the new Xbox!

Put in 100 cores but if youre software can't manage em... then it will be a waste of hardware potential. Cell processor we're looking at you
