odd question

Thread Starter
but my buddy gave me a older 9800gtx+ still in box and i was doing some reading on it when i found this

In July 2008 Nvidia released a refresh of the 9800 GTX: the 9800 GTX+ (55 nm manufacturing process). It has faster core (738 MHz) and shader (1836 MHz) clocks. Since March 2009 this design is manufactured as GeForce GTS 250.

so does this mean i could theoretically flash the 250 with the 9800 gtx+ bios and sli them

I SLi'ed a 8800GT with a 9800GT. No bios flash, no special mods, no hacks, no special drivers. It works out of the box at stock settings.

Video card's don't have to be the same to SLi them, they just got to be really freaken close. I got a big, nasty, long argument on OCN over this....and proved them all wrong with screenshots.

Try to SLi them without BIOS flashing it. If that fails, then look into BIOS flashing.

You shouldn't have to BIOS flash to SLi that card.

Remember to enable SLi in BOTH your motherboard BIOS AND the Nvidia control panel. Get a SLi bridge to connect the two cards. Also, keep in mind if you have to multiple monitors, you must disable them for SLi to work.

thank you good to know i can see were the argument came from ive always been told the need to be the same card. my thought on it is maybe that though two ever so slightly diffrent cards can sli its not offically supported and therefor less known.
but its good to know if i can find a 250 for cheap it may be worth a try i looked up my pny 9800 today and was shocked to see it still siting at $250when i can get a second one of my bfg 260's for 80

GTS250 uses a different PCB than the 9800GTX+, and also different memory. Flashing either card with the other card's BIOS can cause all sorts of issues and risks bricking the card.

I have seen it done, but I highly, highly recommend against it.
