Should I just go for the D14, or what?

Thread Starter
I plan on upgrading my system later this month, by replacing my motherboard with a sabertooth z77, my processor with an i5-3570k, and my ram with 8 gigs of mushkin ridgeback redline. Right now I am debating on whether or not to get the D14, my case can fit it, but I don't know how it would look, or if it's worth the money. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks.

Are you thinking push i5 to 5ghz?

if you're truly against the Noctua (tan and brown?!)
look at the Silver Arrow, it's by Thermalright and has a much more 'normal' look, or try the Phanteks (I forget model no.) but that comes in multiple colours, and performs equally as good as the D14

I'm probably going to do 4 right off the bat, but once the thermal compound cures, I might kick it to 4.5 or so.

The Silver Arrow have a nice look and only 1-2ºC more than noctua.

+1 for Silver Arrow

I probably won't go over 4.5, and I don't move my computer around enough to care about weight. I'm changing my ram so I can use my old ram to build another pc, so I can sell it and get my money back for this upgrade.

EDIT: I dont mind noctuas color scheme, the sabertooth it also brown and tan so it doesnt really bother me. I just want the best cooling, while still showing off the boards beauty. I'm one for aesthetics, so that matters.

for 4.5GHz Hyper 212+ with 2x sickleflow performs very good for 4.5GHz, or you can get NH C14/Corsair H80 which performs like NH D14 and has less weight, or for 5.5GHz probably NH D14/ TR Silver Arrow/Corsair H100

only I`d get another memories like this samsung low voltage 30nm bcuz they are cheap(8GB=47$) and can be oced up to 2133 mhz biggrin.gif

I was thinking about the c14, cuz it gives a lot of downward air flow which is good for the sabertooth board. But I didn't know the performance difference between the C14, in the D14.

I am at 4.8 on the hyper 212+ which is only $30 and looks IMO way nicer.
