new build 5-7 second pauses in games

built a new pc for my brother and he is complaining about 5 second pauses where everything freezes then starts going like normal it happens every 5-10 min this is driving me crazy it happens in old games like final fantasy 11 and newer games like kingdoms of amalar


fresh win 7 64bit install
570 sli
2500k at 4.5ghz
850 corsair power supply

try updating or rolling back nvidia drivers.

Assuming the drivers suggestion above did not work, try updating the motherboard BIOS to the newest possible revision. By the way, I do recommend using the 285.62 Nvidia drivers as they were the last stable release for me, personally. wink.gif

If that doesn't work, check the GPU's to make sure the fans are running and nothing is overheating. If need be, use MSI Afterburner to set a custom fan profile that revs the fan higher, keeping the GPU's under 85C at max load.

The next thing would be to reseat the GPU's, SLI bridge, RAM, and PSU power connectors.

Have you tried taking the video cards out of SLI and seeing if it still happens? Also Move down to stock speeds on the CPU and see if that helps.

well not sli problem still does it
upgraded to the brand new driver still does it
already had the latest bios
set cpu back to default problem still there
this is driving me crazy lol
